Intern Alexander Morton spent the summer working on a project involving mountain hydrology and water quality with Dr. Beverley Wemple (Geography Department - Hydrology) and Dr. Don Ross (Department of Plant and Soil Science - Soil Chemistry).
Alex participated in a project focusing on hydrology and water quality in upland and mountainous settings. This project sought to quantify the role of rural transportation networks on water quality degradation. Alex participated in field sampling, maintenance of field equipment, and laboratory analysis of water and sediment samples. He sought to understand how landuse or landcover change influences the movement of water, sediment and nutrients through the landscape.
