We welcomed 11 high school teachers, 20 high school students, and one curriculum developer to Saint Michael's College from July 20th through 23rd for the 2015 Leaves of Green Workshop.
Teams learned how photosynthesis and long distance transport systems are integrated in plants and why photosynthesis and carbon partitioning are integral to bio-fuel production and agriculture. Teams also learned to measure photosynthesis in different species, sugar transport and storage in plants, and the energy value of a plant and how it is affected by genes and environmental conditions.
Dr. David Braun of the University of Missouri and Dr. Mark Lubkowitz of Saint Michael's College led the workshop and guided teams through independent projects.
