On September 17, 2015, the Environmental Research Center at Juan Ponce de Leon High School in Florida, Puerto Rico celebrated its 15th anniversary with a research forum focused on "Rediscovering the Karst Biodiversity". The Environmental Research Center was created by Elliot Lopez, a participant in the Vermont EPSCoR RACC High School program.
The forum was held at the University of Puerto Rico, Arecibo Campus and included several speakers. Among those speakers were Elliot and student Kris Santa, a current RACC participant, and teacher Glenda Almodovar with her students Grecia and Jose Izquierdo, who have participated in the RACC high school program since 2013. Glenda, Grecia and Jose presented the research that they had done as part of the RACC research program in 2014.
Congratulations to Elliot for his hard work with the Environmental Research Center, and to all of the presenters.
