Vermont EPSCoR Graduate Research Associates (GRAs), Wilton Burns and Brittany Lancellotti met with first-graders from Flynn Elementary School in Burlington, VT in September to pique their interest in learning more about the sciences. CWDD members Janel Livia Donicova, Janel Roberge, and Mike Winslow coordinated and participated in the visits.
Students were given the opportunity to meet working scientists, talk about observing water quality, and see some aquatic insects. The visiting GRAs also discussed some of the places around the world where their scientific studies have brought them. The visit provided Flynn Elementary students a hands-on opportunity to witness science in action and to discuss research with professionals in the field.
