My interests are in ecosystem ecology and human perceptions of the land.
I use remote-sensing to map vegetation features and then I study how they relate to climate and other environmental factors. I like to explore how ecological relationships change across spatial scales from regional to continental.

My past research has focused on tropical savannas. My current goal is to find ways to include local knowledge into maps and to integrate it with quantitative scientific information. I'm particularly interested in questions related to climate change.

I work for the EPSCoR project in collaboration with Dr. Brian Beckage. We develop models that can be used to predict climate at different scales.
