Christopher Koliba Named UVM President's Fellow for Engagement

Christopher Koliba, PhDChristopher Koliba, PhD, UVM Professor of Community Development and Applied Economics and Leader of the BREE Social Systems team, has received an appointment to serve as President's Fellow for Engagement to support UVM's newly created Office of Engagement. UVM President Suresh Garimella announced the appointment in an email to the UVM community on July 16, 2020.

The Office of Engagement is intended to help meet UVM's Land Grant mission to serve the community and connect knowledge, skills, and research integral to the health of Vermont. This includes an alignment of outreach and engagement programs at UVM, with a focus on the evolving needs of Vermont communities, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Success in this mission will help to strengthen the state's economy and improve the overall quality of life for Vermonters.

President Garimella explained “Much is expected of us as the state's land grant university. We need to act quickly despite – and because of – the special challenges posed by the current pandemic. Because of this, I have asked Professor Christopher Koliba of our College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to accept a part-time assignment for the coming year as a president's fellow for engagement. Chris will get this important effort organized and started.”
