Jaralyn Haraldsen

Dr. Haraldsen is the founding Director of Research Development at UVM. In this role, she leads a team of seven Research Development staff as they provide technical grant writing and project management support to faculty seeking extramural research funding, with an emphasis on federally sponsored research projects/grants. At UVM she has contributed to the establishment of programs for early-career faculty members, a campus Research Impacts Hub, and the promotion of research accomplishments at UVM through an annual “Research Week” celebration. Dr. Haraldsen has been an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) since 2007, and recently completed her term as the Chair of the NORDP Northeast regional group (Member Coordinator, 2018; Chair-elect, 2019; Chair, 2020; Immediate Past Chair, 2021). In her service on the NORDP Northeast advisory committee, she contributed to the organization of six in-person, regional meetings. In her role as chair during the pandemic, she spearheaded the effort to transition the bi-annual regional meetings to a series of more frequent, virtual, regional conferences that served to maintain connection amongst the membership and offered the chance for a virtual “road trip” across the northeast when no one was able to take a summer vacation!
