2014-10-10 CWDD High School Studnet Participant Nora Enright named as National Merit semi-finalist

CWDD High School Student participant Nora Enright was named as a semi-finalist in a prestigious academic scholarship program that weighs test scores, school academic record and participation in school and community activities, among other factors. Students who made the cut are now eligible to be considered in subsequent rounds and in the spring could be named National Merit Scholars.

Next month, Vermonters will go to the polls to vote for the governor, lieutenant governor, U.S. Representative, state representatives and senators and a host of other positions. And they’ll also decide on county positions, such as sheriff, assistant judge and high bailiff.

So what people elected to these positions actually do?

Chris Koliba, UVM Master of Public Administration Program and a professor in Community Development and Applied Economics, and Vermont historian Paul Gillies look at Vermont’s county government system, why it exists and how it developed.
