2017 Vermont EPSCoR All Hands Meeting
VT EPSCoR held a successful kick off to Year 2 with an exciting All Hands Meeting on June 6, 2017 at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT. Over 80 participants attended including new 2017 Undergraduate interns, graduate students, post-doctoral associates, and members from the VT EPSCoR External Advisory Committee.
Dr. Sean Kennan, NSF Program Director, provided opening remarks with Dr. Judith Van Houten, VT State EPSCoR Director. Science Leaders from each BREE research group provided an overview of the work, progress on the research and expectations for the upcoming year.
Representatives from VT PBS, including Holly Groschner, President and CEO, and Scott Campitelli, Vice President of Content Development and Distribution, spoke to the group shortly before lunch and provided a preview of an upcoming PBS documentary featuring research conducted under BREE.
Patrick Clemins, Cyber Specialist for VT EPSCoR, provided a data management overview especially relevant for all the new team members. Michael Winslow, Director for Workforce Development and Diversity (VT EPSCoR CWDD) at Saint Michael’s College also gave an update on the exciting workforce development and training efforts over the past year and what to expect in the coming year. He was joined by Dr. Veronica Sosa-Gonzalez, Director of Outreach for the CWDD program, who presented on the program's effective outreach efforts especially in Puerto Rico and other recruitment efforts through SACNAS and ABRCMS.
