Dr. Robert Genter - Professor of Biology at Johnson State College - Biographical Sketch

Robert B. (Bob) Genter is a professor of biology at Johnson State College in Johnson, VT. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His research focuses on using communities of microscopic organisms for bioassessment of anthropogenic impacts in freshwater streams. Publications have investigated measuring changes in abundance of dominant species of freshwater benthic algae in response to metal stress in natural and laboratory stream environments. Recent research for VT EPSCoR has expanded to include microbial source tracking of E. coli as it relates to different land uses in tributaries of the Lamoille River, VT. His laboratory team is also conducting chemical analyses of seven analytes of nitrogen and phosphorus from Lake Champlain and rivers throughout northern Vermont.
