Dr. Ross is a soil chemist with wide ranging interests that include understanding the behavior of soil and sediment phosphorus along Lake Champlain stream corridors. Other areas of active research are in hydropedology (the interaction of water flow paths and soil development), soil manganese oxides, carbon in both forest and agricultural soils, soil nitrification and stream nitrate export, soil calcium mineralogy and availability and long-term forest soil monitoring.
