BREE interns Jeralyn Carmichael and Alexis Doreste traveled with mentors Clare Ginger of UVM and Richard Kujawa of St. Michael's College to meet with professional regional planners trying to increase their communities’ resilience to extreme events. They went to St. Albans to meet with Senior Planner Taylor Newton of the Northwest Regional Planning Commission. Then they traveled to Waitsfield to meet with Mad River Planning District Director Joshua Schwartz. They learned about the challenges of planning at the local scale, and received constructive feedback on their projects, their data selection decisions, and steps for data analysis. Their experience will be incorporated into their final project to be presented at the Vermont EPSCoR Student Research Symposium in March.
