The VT EPSCoR Research on Adaptation to Climate Change (RACC) team will hold a Climate Change Modeling Workshop on Tuesday, November 13 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm at the Burlington Sheraton.

The focus of this workshop is the development of regional climate change scenarios drawn from sophisticated regional climate models being devised by researchers at UVM. These down scale climate models will provide our region with the capacity to anticipate precipitation and temperature variation at the level of several square kilometers. We are convening a diverse group of stakeholders to consider the social, economic, agricultural, environmental or infrastructure implications of the type of changing climate being projected by these regional downscaled models.
A diverse group of constituencies will participate in this work. State and federal agency representatives, scientists, stakeholders from the nonprofit sector, regional planning groups, local governments, and area businesses have been invited.
During the workshop, participants will be asked to review materials and contribute to a series of small group discussions pertaining to either the social, economic, agricultural, environmental or infrastructure implications of climate change.
As a result of participating in this workshop participants will: 1) become familiar with the 30 to 100 year projections of the region's climate; 2) consider the implications of this changing climate for your own organization and the kind of interests and goals pursued by your organization; and 3) tap into a evolving network of stakeholders from the public, private, nonprofit and higher education communities who are focused on using these climate models to plan for the future.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants. There are no registration fees. The expenses for this workshop are being covered by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Goals:
- To build capacity for utilizing regional climate modeling data and scenarios to develop adaptive management strategies for the region (with a particular emphasis on water quality)
- To achieve consensus on Lake Champlain Basin Wide Regional Scenarios from global to regional downscaled climate models
- To collaboratively identify a range of social, economic, agricultural, infrastructure, and environmental implications stemming from climate change to be integrated into RACC land use transition and integrated assessment models
