The National Science Foundation Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NSF EPSCoR) has announced the following funding opportunity: Research Infrastructure Improvement Track-4: EPSCoR Research Fellows (RII Tack-4). Only three RII Track-4 proposals may be submitted in response to this solicitation by any single organization in a RII-eligible jurisdiction.

Dear Colleagues:
NSFs Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NSF EPSCoR) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity EPSCoR Research Fellows (RII Track-4).
This opportunity is the fourth track within our Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) program. RII Track-4 provides opportunities for non-tenured investigators to further develop their individual research potential through extended collaborative visits to the nations premier private, governmental, or academic research centers. Through these visits, the EPSCoR Research Fellows will be able to learn new techniques, benefit from access to unique equipment and facilities, and shift their research toward transformative new directions. The experience gained through the fellowship is intended to provide a foundation for research collaborations that span the recipients entire career. These benefits to the Fellows are also expected to in turn enhance the research capacity of their institutions and jurisdictions.

BREE Undergraduate Internships
The Undergraduate Internship Program offers students the opportunity to participate in current research conducted through the Basin Resilience to Extreme Events (BREE) program. Undergraduates will be matched with a research team working on the transdisciplinary BREE research program. In spring, research teams will meet together at a Symposium to share their discoveries through an oral or poster presentation of their research. Students will do full-time, authentic research for 10 weeks in one of the following areas:
* Lake and Stream Ecology
* Climatology
* Water Chemistry & Microbiology
* Soil Nutrients
* Land Use Management
* Environmental Policy & Management
* Computer Programming

VT EPSCoR CWDD Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The VT EPSCoR Center for Workforce Development and Diversity (CWDD) works to cultivate and prepare a diverse science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workforce in Vermont by inspiring students to enter STEM careers. As part of our work we are pleased to award $5,000 scholarships to Native American (including Abenaki) and First Generation college students who enter STEM majors at a Vermont college or university. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic standing, letters of recommendation, and an essay detailing career goals.

High Schools! Participate in the Basin Resilience to Extreme Events Project
The High School Program offers students and teachers the opportunity to participate in current research. Through involvement in the Basin Resilience to Extreme Events (BREE) research program, participants develop skills in scientific methods and Earth systems thinking and experience what it is like to be a scientist.

Middle Level Teachers
Are you interested in connecting with a new transdisciplinary research program? A team of researchers statewide is investigating how to build resilience to extreme weather events in the Lake Champlain Basin and integrating the interactions of climate, environment, and society.
Research can be a powerful way for teachers to enhance science content and pedagogy. The goal of the VT EPSCoR CWDD middle level outreach program is to expose middle level teachers and students to scientific research.
