Vermont EPSCoR hosted the Alan Alda Communicating Science Workshop on February 6th and 7th at the UVM Davis Center. The workshop provided an opportunity for scientists, graduate students and stakeholders to learn techniques and skills to help communicate their expertise with the lay public and peers from outside their field.
Fourteen Vermont scientists and graduate students attended the intensive two-day workshop. It was led by three instructors from the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University: Laura Lindenfeld, PhD, Carol Schindler, and Nancy Serrell, PhD.
The two-day agenda featured several interactive sessions, including writing and speaking exercises. The second day included breakout sessions that focused on team building and team presentations.
